Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State Basketball Odds at the End of November 28, 2019

Our last update on OSU hoops was leading up the Buckeyes matchup with Villanova at Value City arena on November 13th. Ohio State closed as one-point favorites in that game and wound up putting on a show, blowing out a very good wildcat team by 25 points on the back of Keleb Wesson and some strong shooting. Entering the game sportsbooks had the buckeyes at around +4500 to win the national title. The following morning some books changed the line all the way down to +1600 which still is an ok number for this team.

This number will only go down as the season progresses. We are already hearing a lot of final four talk surrounding the Buckeyes and everyone can see the talent is there. With a mark of 6-0 thus far, Ohio state is well on their way to going over their regular season win total of 22.5 and are now +400 to make this years final four in Atlanta. Ohio state is an impressive 5 -1 ATS so far on the young season and now ranked 10th nationally.

Ohio State Basketball Odds Before Their Major Tilt Against the Tar Heels

After a matchup at home with Morgan State on November 29th the Buckeyes will set their sights on the #6 North Carolina Tar Heels for primetime showdown at the Dean dome on December 4th as a part of the ACC / BIG10 Challenge. There is of course no line released yet on this game but I would imagine Ohio State will be a small underdog of say maybe 4.5. The Buckeyes should matchup well with the Tar Heels and I expect we will see close game throughout between these two young and talented teams.

It will be measuring stick for both squads and win in this one will look great on either teams resume come march. OSU AND UNC have met 14 times over the years with Carolina dominating the series to the tune of 12 – 2. The last meeting between the two was back in 2017 where a then #5 North Carolina beat the buckeyes 86 – 72. Should be great matchup this time around with a national audience watching.

I would be remiss in not pointing out the early season success of another Ohio team, the Dayton Flyers. The Flyers now 5-1 after losing in the finals of the Maui Invitation to #4 Kansas but their road to the final was very impressive. After dominating performances in the first two rounds against Georgia and Virginia Tech respectively, Dayton and star forward Obi Toppin played a wonderful championship game as well, falling just short to one of the best teams in the country.

Toppin is force and will be in national player of the year talks by the time this season winds down. Dayton is for real and as shown in Maui can compete with any team in country. Just something to keep an eye on, because barring injury, the Flyers will be hot sleeper pick come March.
